In class, students learn how to apply mediums such as graphite pencils, charcoal, and oil paint to achieve beautiful, realistic artworks, taking inspiration from classical art of the Renaissance period and 19th century French Academies.  Ivory Guild classes require a high degree of focus, much like classical music and dance lessons. These classes foster a positive and studious environment conductive to creating beautiful and skillful works of art.

Terms and Conditions

PLEASE NOTE:  Missed classes will not be reimbursed and the payment will not be carried forward. This is to ensure students are committed to the classes and are able to progress in the lessons at a good pace without rushing. Please understand that in order to instruct efficiently and for students' progress, students are expected to attend classes at regular intervals as consistently as possible. Students will have a more difficult time to grasping concepts if they have missed many classes and it will be reflected in their work. Students who are frequently absent make it harder to teach as the instructor will have to repeat concepts all over again, stopping the flow and plan of the lessons. Please make sure there are no major scheduling conflicts with other activities before committing to art lessons.  This type of class is similar to music lessons in the sense that attendance is required weekly for consistent progress. Feedback is provided 1-1 in a group setting, however, all main concepts plus demonstrations are taught to the group as a whole to maintain efficiency. Upon space availability, students may have the option to make up for a missed class in another group during the same month at no extra charge.

Instructor-cancelled classes: If instructor cancels a lesson for any reason at all, a make up class will be offered on alternate days during the week or within that month. If a student cannot attend any of the proposed make up classes during that month, a refund will be sent over e-transfer for the specific class cancelled. For refunds for an instructor cancelled class: The term fee will be divided by the total number of classes per session and a refund will be provided for the individual cancelled class.

Cancellations due to bad weather/ Illness/ Holidays:  Weather cancellations will abide by the suggestion of the local school board/government for closures due to inclement weather. For instructor-cancelled classes due to weather, an extra week of classes will be added to the term to make up for the missed class. In the case students are unable to attend lessons because to sickness, students may make up for a missed class in another group within the same month, provided there is space in the class. Classes will not be held on federal holidays.

Joining lessons mid-month/mid-year: New students are welcome to begin art lessons any time of the year (whether it be mid-month or mid-year) and will be able to assimilate into the classes with guidance from instructor. The total number of sessions will be calculated from the start date of the student to the final end date of the term, with an adjusted fee amount reflective of how many weeks are left in the term.

Refunds: Once the full term payment is received, there will be no refunds issued for students in the case they decide to withdraw from the class before the term is over.
